Experiences with an e-bike battery cell replacement

The battery of our bike would no longer charge. The bike shop told us we had to buy a new battery, but that the delivery time was 6 weeks (!). Because of the delivery time and the price we chose a cell replacement in the end. Sent the battery in and paid in advance. After a week I got a call about the battery: something had burnt out inside the battery itself, so it no longer charged. They had replaced that and it worked again. They had measured the capacity of the battery and it was still at 90%. The question was whether we still wanted to have the battery re-celled. The repair was 80 euros, the cell replacement 325. Because the capacity was still 90%, a cell replacement no longer seemed necessary to us. So the battery was sent back that same day, and the amount we had overpaid was back in our account within a few days. In short: by choosing a cell replacement we ended up much cheaper than buying new, and much faster too. KWS Seuren handled this perfectly in line with their own terms, so nothing but praise!
