What does a cell replacement, a repair or a new battery cost?

You have five options. Which one fits depends on what is wrong with your battery. A battery that is empty after 20 kilometres has worn cells and is a case for a cell replacement. A battery that no longer charges but was otherwise fine has a faulty part.

What does it cost to re-cell an e-bike battery?

From €300. Most e-bike batteries come out between €350 and €500, with a median price of €425.

The difference is in the number of cells. A 400 Wh battery has fewer than a 625 Wh one, so less material and less welding go into it. The model counts too: one casing unscrews, another is glued shut and takes more time.

The price on the product page is what you pay. Cells, labour, the final test and shipping within the Netherlands are included. If the intake test shows that the electronics or the casing need replacing as well, we tell you first. You decide whether we go ahead.

On many models you can choose a higher capacity than the original during the cell replacement. You then pay a little more and ride further than when the battery was new. How a cell replacement works step by step is on the page what is an e-bike battery cell replacement.

What does a new e-bike battery cost?

Between €400 and €1,200. A common battery of 400 to 500 Wh sits at the bottom of that range. Batteries of 750 Wh sit at the top.

Watch out with design-led bikes. The batteries of brands such as VanMoof, Veloretti and Cowboy are small, but cost more per watt-hour than a standard Bosch or Shimano battery. There you pay for the shape, because the battery is built into the frame and fits nothing else.

A new battery is the right choice when a cell replacement is not possible for your model.

Why do some batteries have no cell replacement price?

Because a cell replacement is not possible for that model. That goes for more than a quarter of the batteries in our catalogue. The best-known group is the Bosch PowerTube: there we cannot replace the cells without the electronics locking the battery.

The product page of such a battery shows what is possible instead. That is a repair, a refurbished battery or a new battery.

What does it cost if your battery only has a fault?

Then you don't have to pay for a cell replacement. We replace a broken charging port or a faulty circuit board on its own. The price depends on the part, and we tell you after the intake test.

If you decline our proposal, you pay the €95 inspection fee. If you agree, you pay only for the repair. More about what we repair is on the page e-bike battery repair.

How do you find the price of your battery?

Look up your battery in the overview of batteries for e-bikes. You need the brand of your bike and the place where the battery sits. Don't know which type you have? Look at where the battery sits on your bike: rear rack, frame or down tube.

The product page lists the price per capacity and the options available for your model. How long it takes before your battery is back is on the lead time page.

What does a battery for a scooter or mobility scooter cost?

More than an e-bike battery, because it holds more cells. A cell replacement starts at €365 and the median price is around €725.

Frequently asked questions

Re-celling an e-bike battery at KWS Seuren costs from €300. Most cell replacements come to between €350 and €500. That price covers new A-grade cells, labour, a final test, shipping within the Netherlands and a 2-year warranty.

A new original e-bike battery costs €400 to €1,200. The price depends on the brand and the capacity. Batteries of 750 Wh and batteries built into the frame of a design-led bike sit at the top.

Yes. A cell replacement costs from €300, a new original battery from €400 and up to €1,200 for larger capacities. With a cell replacement you can also choose more capacity than the original had.

That depends on the part that is broken, such as the charging port, the electronics or the casing. KWS Seuren tests the battery first and then makes a proposal with a price. Only if you decline that proposal do you pay the €95 inspection fee.

No, the price on the product page includes cells, labour, the final test and shipping within the Netherlands. Only if the intake test shows that the electronics or the casing need replacing as well is an amount added. That only ever happens after you have agreed.

For more than a quarter of models a cell replacement is not possible, the Bosch PowerTube series for example. Severe damage to the casing or water damage also rules out a cell replacement. In those cases the options left are a repair, a refurbished battery or a new battery.
