No. Second-hand means resold as it was. A refurbished battery has been tested by us, repaired where needed and measured again afterwards. It comes with a 24-month warranty.
These chargers fit the Mate bike battery 36V:
. When you send us the battery, put your own charger in the box as well. We test them together.The price appears at the top of this page as soon as you select Battery revision (our full cell replacement) and a capacity. Shipping is included, and so is the intake test: you do not pay for it separately when we re-cell your battery. If the intake test shows that something else is needed, you get a new proposal first. Only if you turn that down do we charge the €95 inspection fee.
In a cell replacement we swap every cell in your battery for a new one. The casing and the connector stay yours, so the battery fits back in its place afterwards. Before we start, we run an intake test. If the problem is somewhere else, say the charging port or the electronics, you hear that first and get a proposal that fits. KWS Seuren has been re-celling batteries since 2017.
You choose from 20.1Ah, 16.7Ah, 10Ah, 13.4Ah, 6.3Ah. More Ah means more energy in the same casing, so you get further on one charge. How much further depends on load, riding style, wind and temperature, which is why we do not quote kilometres. What we do guarantee: the capacity you order is the capacity you get.
Register your battery on this page and follow the steps at checkout; we arrange the collection and send you the tracking details by email, with the time the courier will come. Put in the box: the printed insert form, the battery, the charger, and the key in a sealed envelope if your battery has a lock (do not tape it to the battery). Without the charger and the key we cannot test your battery fully. Your bike stays at home. Ask the courier for a proof of handover; that is your proof of shipping.
Two years. It covers the new cell pack and every part we replace during the cell replacement, including a new circuit board. We guarantee the capacity you order, not a number of kilometres. The full terms are in our warranty conditions.
If the casing is still intact, a cell replacement is usually the cheaper option. A new original e-bike battery costs €400 to €1,200; the price of a cell replacement for the Mate bike battery 36V is at the top of this page. Both come with a two-year warranty. New is the better choice if the casing is broken, or if you cannot do without the battery while we work on it.

Mate City 36V battery: new cells from 10 up to 20.1 Ah
Your Mate City goes nowhere fast on a worn battery, and every trip gets shorter. Its 36V pack came with 12.5 Ah of cells and charges on a 42V charger.
The Battery revision option on this page is a full cell replacement in the casing you already own, with four capacities. 13.4 Ah sits just above the factory pack, while 16.7 Ah and 20.1 Ah take you a lot further. The 10 Ah choice is lower than the original 12.5 Ah, so pick that one only if you mainly do short hops. Choose a capacity and its price shows above. Every set of new cells gets a two-year warranty.
