. The brand alone is not enough. Check that the voltage and the plug match your current charger. Both are on the charger's label and in the specifications on this page.An original charger comes from the same manufacturer as your battery. A universal charger works on the same voltage and with the same plug, but is made by another brand. Both are suitable; a universal charger is usually cheaper.
Yes. A charger with too high a voltage can damage the battery, and a plug that almost fits makes poor contact. Only use a charger with the same voltage and the same plug as your old one. The voltage is on the label of your battery and of your charger.

Sparta PMU4 36V charger with 4-pin plug
This original Sparta charger, article number 29111424, has a 4-pin plug and charges the 36V Ion 300, Ion 400, Ion 500 and Ion 600 batteries. It fits Sparta, Batavus and Koga bikes built from 2014 onwards, such as the Koga E-xtension, the Koga E-tour and the Batavus Fuze E-go.
There is one catch. PMU3 batteries look similar but need their own 4-pin PMU3 charger, and this unit is no replacement for article number 29110795. Charging a PMU3 pack with it will not work.
