Frequently asked questions

An original charger comes from the same manufacturer as your battery. A universal charger works on the same voltage and with the same plug, but is made by another brand. Both are suitable; a universal charger is usually cheaper.

Yes. A charger with too high a voltage can damage the battery, and a plug that almost fits makes poor contact. Only use a charger with the same voltage and the same plug as your old one. The voltage is on the label of your battery and of your charger.

KWS Seuren 36V charger with RCA plug

This is a new 36V charger from KWS Seuren with an RCA connector on the cable. It charges at 3 A, a moderate current for a 36V pack.

Many riders buy it as a second charger to keep at work, or as a replacement when the original unit has stopped working or the cable is damaged. Before you order, check two things on your battery: that the label says 36V, and that the charging socket takes an RCA plug. The photo on this page shows the connector.

Not sure whether your battery uses RCA? Send us a picture of the socket and of the old charger label, and our workshop will check the match for you.
