In brief
25 batteries
given new cells in one batch
Assessed per battery
the later batteries too
Cell replacement and repair
within the same fleet
The challenge
The fleet batteries were not lasting long enough in use. With a large batch it is tempting to give everything the same cell replacement. Technically that is not always necessary.
The approach
A batch of 25 batteries was given a new cell pack. Two later batteries showed the difference. One had an imbalance and was given new cells. The other still tested almost as new and only needed a new scooter connector.
The result
The fleet has a process that can scale, while the technical assessment of each battery remains the deciding factor. That prevents unnecessary cell replacement when a small part is the real problem.
Why this case matters
Two things in one story: being able to work in batches, and still not carrying out the same intervention on every battery.
