When is cell replacement the right choice?
- Capacity has demonstrably fallen a long way.
- One or more cell groups are worn or defective.
- The housing and other parts are fit for reuse.
- An original replacement is unavailable or hard to get.
- You want to keep a validated battery platform in service for longer.
Capacity and upgrades
For some battery types a different capacity is technically possible. It is never automatic. Available space, cell choice, BMS, charging strategy, thermal load and the application determine what can be done safely.
What we keep
A sound housing and parts that work properly stay in place. We do not replace electronics just because new cells are going in.
Cell replacement is not the same as remanufacturing
We call this work cell replacement. Remanufacturing has a more specific meaning in European battery regulation and brings extra obligations for conformity, documentation and marking. We use that term only when a platform and process are demonstrably set up for it.
Business batches
For a recurring battery type we record a fixed product specification, a working method and a test and quality procedure. A new battery type can be validated as a pilot first.

Frequently asked questions
No. The housing, electronics, BMS, any damage and the parts available must all be suitable for safe reuse.
No. We determine capacity per battery type. We only offer an upgrade when it can be done safely.
With a repair we fix a specific defect and good cells stay in place. With cell replacement we renew the cell pack, because the cells themselves are worn or defective.
No. With cell replacement we rebuild an existing battery with new cells. Usable parts, such as the housing, are kept.
Want to know which approach suits your batteries?
Send us the battery type, the quantities and your current process. We first assess which technical approach makes sense. You can also read about repair and quality and safety, or see our approach for bike dealers.
