The starting point
A Silence or SEAT MÓ battery can fail completely or stop charging while the cell pack itself is not the problem. With a large and costly traction battery you do not want to replace the whole battery or all the cells prematurely.
We get this question regularly, from Germany too. Often after no repair option for the battery could be found closer to home.
What KWS examines
We assess the cells and the electronics separately. Besides voltage and cell balance we look at the BMS, the internal power supply, fuses, connections and the communication with the vehicle.
A battery that will not charge can have an electronic defect while the cells are good. The other way round, the electronics can work while the cell pack is worn.
From the workshop: electronics repaired, cells kept
In one Silence battery the internal power supply and its fuse turned out to be defective. The cell pack was well balanced. After a targeted repair of the electronics the battery charged again.
That is often how it goes. If the cell pack is technically sound, we repair only the defective electronics in suitable batteries. Only when the diagnosis shows that the cells themselves are worn or damaged do we choose something else. Not every BMS defect can be repaired. After the diagnosis we tell you what makes technical sense.
Why this case matters
This is how we work: first establish what is broken, carry out a targeted repair where possible and only replace cells when the cells themselves call for it. These batteries are large and heavy. That is why we agree transport with you in advance.
Which repair is possible is decided per battery.
