The challenge
Repairers and bike shops can get a VanMoof bike back on the road technically, but the battery calls for specialist knowledge and test equipment. Anyone who treats every defect as a cell problem replaces parts that are still good.
The approach
In 21 months we handled 782 VanMoof batteries. Of those, 637 came through 16 business customers. The largest of them sent 416 batteries in 36 orders.
Common work: replacing SMD fuses, repairing electronics and recovering deeply discharged batteries. Full cell replacement is not the default.
The result
Each battery is treated according to its fault pattern, whatever the brand. If the problem is in the electronics, good cells stay in place.
Why this case matters
This is how we work: first establish what is defective, carry out a targeted repair where possible and only replace the cells when the cells themselves call for it.
