A complaint such as 'won't charge', 'cuts out' or 'shows an error code' does not yet tell you which part is defective. That is why an unclear fault starts with a diagnosis.
Electronics and BMS
For selected battery types we work down to board and component level.
That is not always possible. With closed systems, protected electronics, missing software access or parts that cannot be sourced, repair is limited or impossible. We tell you after the diagnosis, before any work is done.
From one-off repair to a fixed process
Does the same type of fault keep coming back? Then we record the parts, intake criteria and test method and set up a fixed repair process. That makes specialist repair workable at larger volumes too.
In practice: 782 VanMoof batteries
In 21 months we handled 782 VanMoof batteries, 637 of them through 16 business customers. Much of the work involved SMD fuses, electronics and deep discharge. Full cell replacement was not the default: good cells stayed in place.

For selected types we do, when it is technically possible and safe. Not every BMS can be read out, programmed or repaired.
That depends on the defect and the battery type. If only a connector or an electronic component is defective, a targeted repair makes more sense than replacing the cells.
No. Parts that cannot be sourced, protected software, fire damage or severe board damage can make repair impossible.
Then we discuss the alternatives: cell replacement, a refurbished replacement, return without repair or write-off under the agreed process.
