Yes. A charger with too high a voltage can damage the battery, and a plug that almost fits makes poor contact. Only use a charger with the same voltage and the same plug as your old one. The voltage is on the label of your battery and of your charger.

TranzX 36V 2 A charger with 5-pin plug
A TranzX battery that cannot be charged leaves your bike standing in the shed. This new 36V charger delivers 2 A through a 5-pin plug and works with about 100 models, including the Batavus Fuze E-go, Koga E-Deluxe, Sparta ION RX and Winora C3.
It is made for TranzX 36V batteries such as the BL-01, BL-03 and BL-18, which each have their own page with us. Before you order, count the pins on the charging socket of your battery. Five pins and a TranzX 36V label mean this charger is the right one.
