What we test in a pilot
- the intake criteria and the identity of the product;
- which fault patterns are representative;
- the technical cause and whether repair is possible;
- parts, tools and test set-ups;
- the final test and the safety limits;
- logistics and packaging;
- the references you use and the reporting you need;
- whether it is commercially viable.
A pilot may also end in a no-go
Sometimes parts cannot be sourced, the battery is too tightly sealed, safety cannot be managed properly or repair does not pay. That is a useful outcome too. That is why we do not promise scaling up before the pilot is finished.
From pilot to a fixed process
If the pilot goes well, we agree the following together: repair criteria, exceptions, rates, batch size, turnaround time, parts stock, return process and reporting.
Who is it for?
- manufacturers and importers;
- lease and fleet organisations;
- care organisations with a new product family;
- dealer groups;
- maritime companies and system integrators;
- other organisations that regularly have batteries of the same type.
In practice: 25 e-chopper batteries in one batch
Arts Evenementen had a batch of 25 e-chopper batteries re-celled by KWS. Two later batteries showed the difference. One had an imbalance and was given new cells. The other still tested almost as new and only needed a new connector. So we work in batches, and still assess each battery.

Frequently asked questions
That depends on the platform and on the variation in fault patterns. We agree a representative batch instead of one fixed standard size.
We agree the commercial terms in advance. A pilot can consist of diagnosis, repairs, engineering and reporting. That is why we set it up as a project.
When the engineering, parts, test method, safety limits, logistics and decision rules are stable enough to do the work repeatably.
Yes, if the pilot gives enough basis for it. We set service levels and authorisation limits per customer.
