You set the warranty, KWS does the engineering
Warranty terms differ by brand and by market. That is why KWS does not take over your warranty policy. Together we agree which faults we may resolve on our own, which cases need your approval first and when a battery goes back, is replaced or is handled differently.
One process from dealer to return
- The dealer or service point registers the battery under your reference.
- The battery arrives through the logistics we have agreed with you.
- We register the battery and make the diagnosis.
- The outcome is checked against the authorisation matrix: may KWS resolve this itself, or do you decide?
- We carry out the permitted work.
- The battery gets a final test according to the criteria of the platform.
- The battery is returned to the dealer, the end customer or your hub.
- The case and quality data go back to you.
More than warranty alone
The same process also works for batteries outside warranty, for older models and for platforms that are out of production. We keep warranty and paid service separate, in the records and commercially.
Repair outside warranty is also becoming a legal matter for manufacturers and importers. What the European rules say about it is explained on our page about Right to Repair.
Start with a pilot
A new brand or battery type ideally starts with a clearly defined batch. In it we test what can be repaired, which parts are needed, how we test, how the logistics run and which data you want back. Only then do we set up a long-term agreement. Read more about pilots and batches.
Reporting by arrangement
For each case we can record: your reference, the identity of the battery, the complaint, the technical cause, the work carried out, the outcome of the final test and the chosen solution.
With enough volume we discuss defect categories and trends. That is only possible when those data are recorded in a structured way from the start. Registration and tracking run through the business portal.
In practice: aftersales for Maxtron-Bikes
Winfield Vertriebs GmbH, the company behind Maxtron-Bikes, sends defective customer batteries to KWS. In nine consecutive months that came to 24 orders with 53 batteries. For each battery we report what we found and what we propose. After approval we carry it out: from fuses and charge ports to electronics and cell replacement.

Frequently asked questions
No. KWS supplies the technical diagnosis and the cause. You decide, as manufacturer or importer, whether it is a warranty case. For standard faults we can agree an authorisation matrix in advance.
Yes, if the process has been set up that way. The dealer then uses the agreed reference.
No. Whether a battery can be repaired depends on its construction, the parts, the software, the condition and what you as a brand allow. That is why we assess a platform in advance.
Yes. The same technical process can be used for paid aftersales. Warranty and paid service do stay separate.
Yes, if those data are recorded in the process. Per case, and with enough volume also periodically per category.
